Sample application failed

description

I attempted to use the sample application - DCU.exe, to convert two test pdf documents created in different methods.

test.pdf is a pdf generated by google chrome. Text from a website is embedded in this document by chrome.
test1.pdf is a scanned document, 100% image without any embedded text.

The following two errors are generated when attempting to convert the files:

Starting conversion of 1 files
Starting conversion of E:\Downloads\Newfolder\test.pdf
Failed conversion of E:\Downloads\Newfolder\test.pdf due to error Parameter is not valid.
All conversions completed.

Starting conversion of 1 files
Starting conversion of E:\Downloads\Newfolder\test2.pdf
Failed conversion of E:\Downloads\Newfolder\test2.pdf due to error The file could not be successfully converted. No output file was produced:Converting:E:\Downloads\Newfolder\nf2\6cdef140-a102-48e9-adcd-969d6eb2eb51.tif:to:E:\Downloads\Newfolder\Newfolder\test2.pdf
All conversions completed.

The purpose of the current convert to PDF function is to produce full text PDF search PDFs. DCU will therefore not add value to any PDF produced by chrome (as detailed in this issue) because it is full text searchable already.

The image PDF has probably failed because it uses a compression mechanism which DCU cannot understand. In the absence of an example this cannot be confirmed but is likely the cause.

Where possible the input imaging format should be TIFF and not PDF. This will rectify 90% of problems getting your full text searchable PDF.
